New Shells
The exploration of jewelry made with non-relatable materials.
What is jewelry meant for?

Concept

Jewelry is a luxury.
Shells tied onto threads are jewelry.
It was never about luxury but about transformation.
Turning something that was found into something wearable.
This is the new luxury.
Surrounded by industrial materials, materials that aren´t meant to be worn.
These are the new shells.
By shaping tin and ceramics into wearable pieces with a thread, I blur the line between ideas of comfort, beauty, and preciousness.
These pieces explore jewelry as a transformation.
Reimagining what surrounds us and redefining what it means to adorn the body.

Role: conceptualization, art direction and styling.

Project: The exploration of material in relation to the body.

What is it that we wear?
Jewelry is a personal ornament, such as necklaces, rings, or bracelets, that typically contains jewels and precious metals.
A shell tied to a thread is jewelry. Abstract pieces made from tin and ceramics are jewelry.

Is jewelry defined by its capacity to adorn, or can it exist as a challenge to the body?
Challenging the boundaries of what jewelry can be. Objects can feel raw, heavy, or resistant yet still engage with the body.

Take a sneak peek at my progress.
